COLLAGEN

The future of wound healing

Collagen is the most abundant protein in the human body. It is a vital component of the skin and connective tissue and provides them with great tensile strength. The native biomolecule also plays an important role in the body’s wound healing processes.

Collagen is an integral part of modern wound care. medichema GmbH uses porcine collagen as the raw material for its product lines. A special method is used to extract, purify and process the material.

The products are characterized by a special physical scaffold structure and their positive influence at all stages of wound healing. In the exudative/inflammatory phase, they absorb wound secretion and the proteases contained therein. In addition, a gel is formed, which creates a moist wound environment. In this phase, collagen also promotes hemostasis. In the granulation and epithelialization phases, our collagen products facilitate the migration of macrophages and fibroblasts, which stimulate the body’s own collagen synthesis. The proliferation and migration of epithelial cells is also enhanced, thereby promoting wound closure. Changing dressings is easier due to the complete resorption of our products.
